    January 29th marks the birthday of Tom Paine. He was born in 1737 in Thetford, Norfolk, England. He emigrated to America in 1774 and published the pamphlet Common Sense, 250 years ago, on January 10th 1776. It was widely read and propelled the states to declare independence from Britain. The Declaration of Independence was signed by the delegates on July 4th.     Selections from The LIberty Tree by Leon Rosselson and Robb Johnson are featured throughout the first part of the show.
